OSCAR WILDE IN NEW-HAVEN |
A LARGE AUDIENCE TRYING TO FATHOM HIS MEANING--ADVICE TO YALE STUDENTS |
NEW-HAVEN,
Conn,
Feb 1--Oscar Wilde lectured in Peck's Opera-house this evening to an audience
of 1200 people, including 200 Yale students, most of whom were in the
galleries.
Commentary:
The report gives details of the audience response which included some
early guying and the display of "a mammoth sunflower fan" in a front seat
that was suppressed by an attendant; generally however, the audience was respectful.
